UNITS

There are none who are more xenophobic, terrestrially proud, or possessive of their precious “Earth” than the Exo Militia. If they aren’t lording over you with their supposedly “advanced” technology, they are almost certainly chattering on about the beauty of their precious planet and superiority as the indigenous race inhabiting an ancient and dying world.

Overview

Exo Militia are born and trained on earth. No one born off the Mother Planet is allowed to join this exclusive faction. The Exo Militia defend their home, their honor, and their way of life with a near-religious zeal. The Exo Militia consists of only the most highly ranked and physically fit humans, selected to fight for earth on their planet's and their faction’s behalf. The Exo Militia have heavy armor and advanced technology, accompanied by space travel, that allows them to pose a threat to the alien races of the universe as well as to defend their own precious Earth.

History/Origins

The Exo Militia was founded 9,900 years ago in response to the overpopulation on Earth. Extensive space exploration, colonization, and relocation efforts required an inconceivably robust force of soldiers, scientists, and strategists. These elitists formed a faction calling themselves the Exo Militia. A planet previously overpopulated and plagued by war was slowly transformed into a strictly managed system of governance and relative peace, thanks to this new faction, which fought and suffered to bring Earth back from the brink of destruction. Recruits are selected at a young age from willing participants who must undergo strenuous biological and hereditary testing to ensure they are born and bred from human, Earthen stock. Most Exo Militia serve as cadets for decades before finally being promoted to even a low status of soldier. Those too weak, unintelligent, or undisciplined to serve are banished to the outer settlements that are controlled by the spread-out governments on Earth, usually Legion settlements. It is the banishment paired with a love of technology and a  biological “purity” that has led to the intense rivalry and often hatred between the Exo Militia and the Legion. In addition, there are occasions where offspring quotas are exceeded on Earth, and children who are “unaccounted for” in the careful calculations of Exo Militia scientists are also banished to the Legion settlements in order to maintain population stability. The faction is often referred to as “The Elder Nation,” a badge of honor for the Exo’s but a tongue-in-cheek insult for the Legion who view the Exo’s and Earth as both antiquated and, ultimately, doomed.

Religion/Ideology

While most Exo Militia claim to believe in “The Creator,” their belief is shallow and must rely more on their technology or the tactics and guidance of their leaders than any priest or foolish Legion zealot’s prophecies. Exo Militia serve Earth, and serving Earth means serving the MIlitia and the Militia alone.

Biology

Exo Militia are humans selected for their physical and mental prowess. Most members of this faction have a normal lifespan of roughly 90 years (though this is often cut very short in service to the faction). The average height is 6’ 5” and the average weight of 160-190lbs. As humans with no extraterrestrial breeding, Exo Militia are unable to live in most alien environments without some form of life support. They are also imperiled by some of the harsh climates in their homeworld, even after hundreds of years of terraforming. Because of this physical disadvantage compared to other alien races they often fight, most Exo Militia are heavily armored and rely on the technology (invented by renowned Earth-bound scientists of course) to fend off alien invasions… or conduct “diplomatic” takeovers of territory worlds.

Combat/Tactics

Owing to their comparatively inferior physicality and weaponry along with limited space travel capabilities, the Exo Militia relies heavily on teamwork, well-planned maneuvers, and a strict chain of command. A small force of well-trained Exo Militia can easily dispatch a force five times their number or more if given a tactical advantage or proper preparation for a fight. Exo Militia rarely engage in combat before carefully assessing the situation and confirming the most tactical approach with their generals. Sometimes this approach may demand the lives of many soldiers, but they are mere pawns in the great intergalactic chess match. Any Exo Militia soldier would gladly pay this price, honored to give their life for the Militia and Mother Earth.
